I would like to request the ability to remove the ‘Submit’ button on a Parent form, without having to make the ‘clickable’ linked record fields read-only.
At present, all fields must be read-only in an Parent form for the ‘Submit’ button to disappear. But, in order to preview a ‘clickable’ linked record, the field cannot be read-only.
The two functions are currently mutually exclusive. It’s impossible to have a read-only parent form (i.e. a preview form) with no 'Submit button and clickable/previewable linked records within that parent form.
This is something we used all the time in the old Portal - our users could open a record, and then click on any sub-records that were associated with it to preview those sub-records. All without a ‘Submit’ button at the bottom of the page, confusing users as to whether these previewable records were editable or not.
If this functionality could be returned, we’d be much appreciative.
thank you for reaching out! I will forward this to our engineering team for consideration for a future release and will post a reply here once this feature becomes available!
Thanks again for taking the time to write this! We really appreciate your input!
Also just to clarify, would this work for you if the child forms that open when clicking on the linked records were completely read-only, or would you expect to still be able to edit the linked records themselves using the child form?
Yes, it would be perfectly acceptable if the clickable child forms were read-only, it would be very rare for us to need the Parent form to be read-only, but the clickable child forms to be editable.
Of course, if I could be greedy, it would be nice to have the option to have the child forms editable or read-only, but if they were just read-only, that would be great.
EDIT: What would also be brilliant would be if the child linked records were clickable/previewable in the Grid view, too!
I have forward your additional suggestion to the engineering team as well. I’ll keep you posted on both of them through this thread whenever there’s an update!
Thanks again for reaching out to us and providing this valuable feedback!
