Geomapping tool updates - markers

Hi Hannes and the ME team, love your work as you know. Will keep adding ideas from the land that Airtable is missing in here.

With the new Mapping tool, what would be ideal would be the ability to add and relate custom markers. This doesnt exist anywhere as a public tool at the moment directly interfacing with Airtable, just as an extension for internal use.

Specifically. Location coordinates (you have that already) . . . ability to pop up cards at each point with relevant fields on them for what is at that location, search the map for certain filters and click back through to a record or related record/info.

On that note . . what also would be good is if the portal tool backed this with a public profile record that a user could create, and show (so this could be like a business directory, for me it isnt but that is what people will relate to)

Hello again! Thank you so much for these suggestions!

I would just like to ask you to clarify a couple of things so we don’t end up misunderstanding your requests:

  • When you say you’d like to add and relate custom markers, do you mean click somewhere on the map to then create a record?
  • Also I’m not sure I fully understand your last paragraph. Do you mean users would log in to create their record from the map?

Thanks again for your suggestions and in advance for providing further clarification! I will then forward these suggestions to our engineering team for consideration for a future release.

Here is probably a good way to express it. Stays – Voxel

Im not saying through that you need the grid elements, but if you look on the map there are pop up markers that can be customised at both the “what is displayed on the marker” and “what info pops up” level. So that kind of map display and marker functionality, cross referencig across Aitable related records would be nice.

There are many many directories like this around the world and this would open airtable up to that

Thank you for providing some further context! I’ve attached this for the feature request so that our engineers can look at your example as well!
